Well Spank My Arse And Call Me Charlie!

I just received some rather interesting news about my job situation.....
The long and short of it is, I can stop job hunting!
I don't have to leave the university. I will stay in my current position, and said position is going to be fleshed out with new responsibilities. I will have a defined role in the department. I WILL ACTUALLY SERVE A PURPOSE AGAIN.
The timing of it all is enough to make my head spin, I tell ya. I go for months wasting away in no-man's land with only a feeble reason to justify my continued employment, and just when I'm at my wits end with my unsuccessful attempts at finding a different job, BAM! I'm told that Oh Yes, we do have a need for you after all.

I'm relieved that I don't have to take a cut in pay and benefits by working somewhere else, or worse, go on unemployment.....but I also want to go up to my boss and slap him silly and scream, "Do you understand what I've been through these last five months!?!" GAAAHHHHH!

Deep breath, moving on.

I guess now that I know I'm staying, I'll have a reason to decorate my office. It's as bare and sterile as the day I moved in on July 13th. I never felt a need to stamp my personality on it, for if I was just going to be leaving soon, what was the point? Hmm, must think about this....

  2. Oh, YAY! I'm so happy for you! Finally! Some validation! I don't blame you for wanting to throttle your boss...da nerve!

How shall we decorate your office?

  3. Kathryn: well, it literally is a blank slate, 4 institutional white walls and a horrid green/blue carpet, lol. The one good thing about it is that I have a large floor to ceiling window that looks out on a maple tree. I'm not sure if they'll let me drill holes in the wall to hang pictures so I may have to look into some classy posters....can unframed posters be classy? ;)

  5. Yes, I think unframed posters can look good! Or, you can always buy the mat and just don't do the whole glass frame thing. Or, you could buy those hooks that don't leave holes on the wall...do we have an expense account to work with here???

  7. That's great news that you don't have to look for a new job! Job hunting is painful at best.

I hereby sentence your boss to having the fleas of a thousand camels infest his crotch and arms too short to scratch!

Kathryn: hahaha...no, no expense account. Anything I do will be out of my own pocket.

    Gingeyginge: thank for stopping by!

    Smileyfreak: Thanks! :)

    BlackLog: hehehe...sorry Mrs. B!

Picture Imperfect: I was at my wits end with the whole venture. Ugh! But hopefully things will settle down now. Thanks for the boss curse... :)
